Taken last Summer in Syracuse, N.Y.
It may seem tilted but I wanted it that way to keep the building in the background straight. Gotta love the challenges of barrell distortion.
The barreling is there but not intrusive. The shadows of the windows on that walkway almost appear 3 dimensional with the shadowy effect.I think that this would work even better if you had some deeper shadows and lighter highlights. It`s a little too monotone to me and needs a little work. Just my take..
Fantastic shot. I don't think it needs work- I like it the way it is, but that's just my opinion. It's serene and desolate and all of the lines and shadows and tones are wonderful. Nicely done.
"Do you see any Teletubbies in here? Do you see a slender plastic tag clipped to my shirt with my name printed on it? Do you see a little Asian child with a blank expression on his face sitting outside on a mechanical helicopter that shakes when you put quarters in it? No? Well, that's what you see at a toy store. And you must think you're in a toy store, because you're here shopping for an infant named Jeb."
Apologies for not commenting earlier, but I never put comments on fellow competitors images incase it sways others opinions. I liked the image and the starkness of the lines, and the way it drew me in, as you said, but somehow the composition did not work for me. Even now I cannot put my finger on why this is, it just seems wrong. Sorry I can't be more helpful. It isn't the barrelling.
I'm loving the lines, the contrast, the b&w, textures, the whole creation is totally awesome. It would have been a real pleasure I imagine to come up with this. Nice work.Verena
