I grew up in a Bohemian Lifestyle (Ya Think?) where those around me did whatever they wanted, and went wherever they pleased...and sometimes, not always for the better...

Nothing wrong with that, per se...and I benefitted from the artistic aspect that sort of lifestyle can produce...

The ugly part however, was that when things went south, as they often did...Quite a few individuals (including my parents) took little or no responsibility, nor accountability for their actions...Instead, they would go running to others of a more stable nature, looking for a soft place in which to land whenever they fell, often expecting others to take up the emotional (and most times, financial), slack...

Nowadays, we see that scenario repeated many times over...especially in relationships where one seems to play the role of the "parent", and the other being the "irresponsible teenager"...

We all are prone to that situation, including myself...but I learned the hard way, and more often than not, found myself cleaning up my own mess...Something my parents never really had to experience...

"Fixing your own broken machine" (although no fun...hey, I'm still human), DOES teach you some sort of self-reliance, and will often make one think twice about getting into trouble whenever temptation comes a-knockin' @ the door...

...But I am NOBODY'S "daddy"...sugar, or otherwise...Hence the theme...So if you're a wannabe Lindsay Lohan or Charlie Sheen, and can't pick up your own fallen sticks...You might be inclined to look elsewhere to someone who actually WANTS to play "rescue"...:P

A great image and narrative Ron. So well thought out and said. Also very true. People in a relationship of any kind seem to forget that they are both adults and, whether married or otherwise, both need to be responsible for their own actions and words.

Spend a few minutes each day being grateful for what you have and who you have to share it with.
