Do the undead wear shoes? And why would they bother? It's not like a careless step onto a rusty nail could lead to lockjaw. Or who cares that the nearest walking corpse may have toenail fungus. Shoes are for the living, or at least until the viewing is over and they nail down the lid on that fancy pine box. Shoes are a rare luxury in Potter's Field, and I'll keep mine for a pillow.
