...I realize that what makes art, and what does not - is all in the eyes of the individual that beholds it...

- With my own work, I'm sure there are those whom feel that everything I do leaves much to be desired, and that maybe I should just give it up...

- Here on the Eastern Seaboard however, you'd be SURPRISED at just what passes as artistic folly, and the tens of thousands of dollars (sometimes, even hundreds of thousands, or even millions, depending upon the artist) individuals (ditto corporate and government institutions) will PAY to have "visuals" not much different from that shown above, hanging in their foyers, atriums, offices, dens, living-rooms, bedrooms, and wherever else they feel may need a little "flair"...

Hence, the title...Just my two cents on the subject - maybe I'm just a little envious, myself...:P

I find your art to be thoughtful and sophisticated, Ron. Perhaps because I understand how much work goes into design, color choices, gradients, and applications of light and shadow.

Take the above illustration: on the wall behind the frame, you didn't just present a flatly colored background. You created a subtle (but extremely effective) color gradient, that not only highlights the frame, but also creates a very real sense of dimension.

And just that one small thing, alone, demonstrates your skills as an observer and your artistic mastery to be able to replicate that aspect of realism.

Your art won't always speak to everyone. And that's okay. It speaks regardless of a listener.

And you may never know how your art touches other's lives and lives on within them. But you can be sure that it will take on a new life within a few, like a planted seed. There's a magic to that. A magic that you created!

You and I may never know the recognition and reward of having a celebrated ga-zillion dollar museum piece of a simple red dot on a blank canvas (rolls eyes at "conceptual art"), but I couldn't stop doing art (even without financial reward). Could you? It is part of our being.

Besides ... who knows what destiny has yet in store for you? :)

Yeah, it all comes down to 'beauty in the eye of the beholder...but don't forget, even some of the master painters were not appreciated in their own time...it wasn't until they were dead and buried that the masses finally caught on to their vision and talent...if that's any consolation to you, lol...I think we humans were meant to be creative so keep at it, Ron...you have a unique style.

Long before the white man and long before the wheel, when the dark green forests were too silent to be real. Lightfoot 1967
