This dam is near Grand Rapids, Ohio, a little southwest of Toledo. There was a blue heron wandering around in the water, but with so much sunlight in front of me, he turned out as nothing more than a silhouette. Thanks for the comments and views.

It still looks good JimboB. Those blue herons have a tendency to look a lot alike anyway. I really like the mood of this. It speaks lazy. Water pouring over the dam and the Egret waiting for a fish to swim by. This dam belongs in Mayberry.

Good lines and the dam lets your eyes wander to the backside of the photo. Colors are good.

Nice post.

What a nice shot and great angle. Relaxing scene. It must be quite a ways across this dam. The clear sky makes the water look more blue. Very nice capture.

Especially good to view on a hot day like today! I like the way your eye is drawn to the horizon by the line of the dam.

I like that the heron is silhouetted. I also like how it gives a perception of the size of the dam, and I agree with Tick about how the angle draws the eye to the trees in the background :D

I really like your photo, and the silhouette of the blue heron. If we could see the heron more I think it would take your eye away from the rest of your beautiful shot. It was meant to be, very nice work.

He looks great in silhouette. Hard to take a pic with sun in front of you, but seems you had no trouble at all.

To achieve an even better image than this one already is, think you have to spend some money Jimbob, not for buying a new lens, but for buying some fish. Will give you probably (have anyhow some doubts) a better close-up of the heron. If this attempt doesn't succeed, you can eat the fish at your own dinner, lol.
Was just kidding, good post my friend.

The clever guy knows that with the overflow comes also the fish. Nice scene with the foaming water and the row of trees at the back.

A Dam good shot of the Dam, Jimbo. Maybe you could get some fishing lessons from that Blue Heron. They aways seem to know where the good fishing spots are. Excellent work.
