I can't believe my luck. I was letting the dog out, and saw this sight on the tree. This is the first time I have ever witnessed a cicada coming out of the shell. I took this shot just 25 minutes ago...at 8:30PM Eastern time. I used the flash because it was getting kinda dark. Thanks for the comments.

Wow!! Jimbo, A great find well captured. Now that you got this excellent image you might want to stomp on that critter before he eats and destroyes everthing in your yard. Excellent work.

I bet it sounds like the wires are singing around your house JimboB. What a cool capture and those shells look like little molds. Makes me think of the pods in the "Invasion of the Body Snatchers."

As many times I have heard these annoying things in the trees during the hot part of the summer, I have never seen one coming out of its skin. Great capture and timing. Super close-up and post. You know it's August when you hear the BUZZ in the trees.

Talk about timing Jimbob this picture would not have been the same without the flash the reflection in "both" sets of eyes is really cool!
