I am not sure what they are right at the moment either but a fine shot of them. Red can be so hard to capture right and you got this done well. Even got the petal textures so well. Nice work.

“Life is full of beauty. Notice it. Notice the bumble bee, the small child, and the smiling faces. Smell the rain, and feel the wind. Live your life to the fullest potential, and fight for your dreams.”
This is related to Hibiscus and Rose of Sharon - sometimes called saucer flower. Usually I see it in white but this is a gorgeous crimson shade and the capture of the texture is terrific.
Very good flower photo,Jim,the colors are very nice as well as the lighting, saved.Yes,as said above, they might be hibiscus,we have flowers here that look like the same or similar but it is not the same color.
You gave the answer by yourself Jimbob: big red foofies, lol.
Know almost for sure that Carol and Kathy are right, as to me it's one of the species of a hibiscus. Can see it by the shape of the budds and the leaves.
The colours remind me of those taco-trays you get a the sports bar, with a nice cold jug of something to chug. [Nope, not going to mention the flowers next time we take our stools in front of a hockey game.]
