Harpersfield Bridge is a covered bridge spanning the Grand River in Harpersfield Township, Ashtabula County, Ohio, United States. This double-span Howe truss bridge, one of currently 16 drivable covered bridges in the county, is the second longest covered bridge in Ohio at 228 feet. A flood in 1913 washed away the land at the north end of the bridge, and the steel span was subsequently attached. The bridge features a walkway, added during its renovation in 1991-92. The bridge also features an Ashtabula County Metro Park at its north end, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

I had to google to find out why these bridges had roofs. It says without the roof they will last only about one eighth of the time that a roofed bridge remains usable. Another nice shot of a long bridge Jimbob. I like the lighting and the angle from which you took this.

What an interesting history it has. I like that they added a walkway, I wish more bridges would do so. I do enjoy this perspective showing both sections.

A great shot JimBob - love the way the boards have weathered because of the roof overhang. You've positioned it perfectly. (Of course, it would look better without the metal guardrail, but we have to keep those autos out of the River.)
