Maybe "warm" penguin? It looks like that, Jim. LOL Anyway, it's very pretty and it doesn't matter what kind it is.

It is a white bellied chimney cleaner.

Just kidding. I do not know what type it is but looks like it could be related to the Magpie. Nice shot of it Jim.

Yes, I know you. You're Jimbob.

Oh, you mean the bird! lol

I went to the Toledo Zoo, no, not literally. I googled it and they have a page of adoptable birds and one of them looked something like this fellow. Is the bird purple all over because I detect that there is purple in his plummage? If so, it could be an Amethyst Starling perhaps. I love the inquisitive look in his lovely face here. Great bird shot, Jim.

It is stoic if nothing else JimboB. Great shot and it really does look like a painting. Keen work. It could be the rare Cellar Dwelling Cardinal.

I'm not sure but it appears to be a magpie as Stan says - definitely resembles that group. Very good shot.

This bird could be from anywhere in the world as it's in a zoo, frustrating ain't it ! Photographing black, & white subjects can be difficult but you handled this one just fine Jimbob.

First of all, Jim, let's clear up the identity of this bird in your posting. In common parlance this is a black faced minstrel bird. The Latin name is Vaudevillepsis Al Jolsonis. They are an endangered species and were much more prominent in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Many of these old birds simply disappeared during the civil rights movement of the late 1960's although their numbers had been steadily decreasing prior to that time as their primary food source left their native lands and migrated to the "talkies". (information courtesy of Dottypedia)

I showed up here very late. Everything that could have been said, has been said. I agree with the positive superlatives. Nice shot and blah blah blah blah.
