Hey, Jimbob...I've always found that a little well placed ether can work wonders on these impatient little guys. They seem to mellow out substantially with the right dose. If they go belly up, you know that you've used too much. This is an atypical butterfly shot in that it contains no flowers. I guess this guy was too busy running from you to worry about eating. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for not including the requisite flower. I will be taking Foofy Friday off and will not be viewing or commenting on any flower shots. I will probably spend the day here because they don't have electricity; so I should be safe and well shielded from any potential fatal flower views.
It's a dandy shot. Excellent and sharp focus, great DoF, lovely colors and a testament to your patience and perseverance.
You did a wonderful job, Jimbob. Butterflies in a butterfly garden are relatively easy to capture because they are fed in such a way that they become lazy to a certaint extent. To capture butterflies in the open air is however a different story, because they are hungry and therefore (for us too) active. Your result is worth the done effort, mate. Well done.
You did a great job capturing this little fella, JimboB. I never thought about butterflies getting full and being lazy until I read Sea's comment. Now it makes sense. Good focus for not having long to get a clear shot.
A cute little butterfly ... I love the lighting on it's wings. I thinke the smaller butterflies are more of a challenge than the larger ones. Excellent capture, Jim.
Hey! Shouldn't this guy be sitting on an old building or bridge? LOL - just kiddin' ya', Jim! Great shot - the detail is grand as well as the colors - job well done -
Butterflies are notorious for not doing what a photographer tells them to do!...lol
Cracking capture
