It's a Black Flying Fox, hanging by one claw from rafters at the Columbus Zoo. It's native to Australia, New Guinea, and Indonesia. CAUTION: Looking at this picture will cause nightmares!
I thought Count B had sent a photo of himself to you JimboB. They can call it a Flying Fox if they want to but it looks like a Bat to me. I will have nightmares for sure.
Jimbob - This one is wrapped a little tight - it needs to relax; goes a little batty when being photographed. lol Terrific capture of die fledermaus. Thad
This one's a beauty, Jimbob. You seem to have a special affinity with these beasties. Your zoo shots are always so well focused. I feel like I'm less than a foot away from this guy. Exquisite detail work once again. The textures you've captured are remarkable. But those eyes are killers. Being upside down like that, I'm not surprised at the color of his eyes.
Yikes! I had one of these flying around in my cabin last night ... well I know it was a bat. I feel as if this one is staring right at me .... love the focus on the eyes & the detail is magnificent. Excellent capture, Jim. I for sure will have nightmares tonight.
Maybe their eyes are red because all the blood rushes to it when they hang upside down. Maybe we look better to them in this orientation. They always appear to be wearing black straight jackets too. Wonderful shot, Jimbob. I want to flip my monitor though.
What a close up this is! You did a heck of a job on this one Jim, I have heard of flying fox but never seen one, sure looks batish! ) Years ago out in Calif. we had a cabin, and my other half would have to open it up, and check for bats before I would go inside, after having one fly around us one time when we went in. Tigs♥ =^..^=
A fabulous capture JB!! A preview of some Halloween haunting I presume? Nice and clean and.......... is he angry or something?? Very nice image buddy!:)
Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun
