This is a crop of the original, of yesterday's picture, which was cropped also, so this is about 25% of the original shot. The detail is not as bad as I though it would be with that much cropping.
It looks better JimboB. I thought there was too much negative space in the other. It really blends in well with the grasses. I think the good thing about the larger megapixel cameras is the ability to crop more.
Wonderful composition and amazing detail considering the cropping upon cropping. I've probably asked you before, but what type of lens did you use to get this shot? At full zoom with a tripod I couldn't get detail and clarity like this.
Glad you decided to give the crop a try, Jim and I'm impressed with the clarity. It's quite sharp and detailed - you had a good steady hand going for you when you snapped this -
Excellent detail and lighting; superb capture of the handsome fella! If this was taken from a far distance, it would be difficult to locate him since Blue Herons are meant for camouflage. Nearby my home, there's a large field next to a highway where many of these fellas can be seen. They never seem to mind the cars! :) -Wonderful shot!
Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun
