The colors are very pretty and interesting - it looks as though the colors may go thru a spectrum of blues and purples while the blooms are on the vine. Nice shot JimBob.

Jimbob, I do not believe, but know for sure that you've depicted a Wisteria. I only have still some doubts whether it's a Wisteria floribunda (clockwise windings) or a Wisteria sinensis, blue flowered version (counter clockwise windings).

Sweet beauty. Presentation is superb, agent SAJ. My guess was something in the family of lupin. Maybe wisteria is a relative to yours and lupin..? I trust our agent SEAS blindly, he is most reliable agent. SAM & SAAB
See by SAM's comment above that she's a specialist as well, because she's right. The order and familyname are the same but the tribe is different. The genus Wisteria belongs to the order of Fabales, the familyname is Fabaceae, and the tribe is Millettieae while the genus Lupinus belongs to the order of Fabales with the familyname of Fabaceae as well. The tribe however is Genisteae.

Jimbob - These are wisteria blooms - large and fragrant. Growing on a vine, the plant can grow to tremendous size if left unchecked. If growing near a building, the vine can work its way under the clapboards and grow to push the boards outward. Mine are just opening now, so the camera will be on them in the next few days. In the meanwhile, I'll enjoy these very much. Thad
Great photo of the Wisteria! Looks like an HDR? Is it? Very nice color, sharpness, and composition. There are some like this in Central Park where I live. I don't see too many of them around here, which is not to say they aren't out there. Thank you for sharing! Have a happy day! Allen
