Fishing isn't something I would do. However, I can see the appeal of sitting in front of a rolling ocean (very big lake!) and watching the world go by where the actual catching of fish isn't really that important. Your photo captures that feeling beautifully and the way the various colours complement each other only adds to that feeling.
Smile, without a reason why. Love, as if you were a child, Smile, no matter what they tell you Don't listen to a word they say Cause life is beautiful that way. (From the film "Life Is Beautiful")
Sounds like a good plan for the day. Nice shot of the slow action. Was he getting any bites? I'm not sure what the Styrofoam block is on the bucket. I can't read the label. It doesn't look like a cooler. Maybe it's a live-well pump for the fish bucket. Well done.
I notice how the wrinkles in the back of this person's jacket and the back of the chair mimic the shape of the wavelets on the water, almost as though he/she were transparent or truly a part of the waves. And I like the angle here and the fact that you chose to capture the person with their face to one side, rather than just a back-of-the-head shot. It gives us a little more personal view into him/her as a person out enjoying their day. I'm hoping it does well in the contest.
If you've ever wanted to make a difference but found it hard to believe that one person could... check out the Kiva Team Caedes discussion thread and discover that anything is possible.
"I can't make it to work today because my arm is in a 'cast' - any day fishing is better than a day at work. I hope he was able to catch something, but it looks so pleasant, perhaps it did not matter. Good shot, JimBob.
