This little water strider was filmed on a small pond in middle Finland. He was skipping happily over water despite the fact that winter is coming.

I've seen spiders "walk" on water in Real Life, and so I am happy to have such a nice picture of one! Thanks.

Cool pic. Very well done. It almost looks like he's walking on hot, molten metal.

This is the perfect image to show my students when I talk about the surface tension of water. Thanks.

Had this in the VB and gave it high marks. This is a wonderful macro shot. Love the silvery color of the water. Great details and clarity. +favs

just gave it highest marks in the booth. This is beyond amazing.. I mean the water is so smooth and has ZERO imperfections.. the incredible detail on the strider.. the flawless indentions from his little legs.. everything comes together and this is, (imho) an instance where he deserves all the attention and the rule of thirds can be successfully broken. Beautifully done.. into my favorites.

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

Outstanding shot! Surprisingly sharp, considering how fast these things jet around.
