nicely done Kevin!!! It almost looks like this image was created digitally.. perfectly black background.. perfectly smooth chess pieces.. subtle yet beautiful reflection of the pieces in the board.. just a fantastic shot on all levels for me!

It's a fantastic shot Kevin! But there's one mistake: the lowermost right square (h1, as chess notation goes) should be white, not black! That's why your rook on that side of board is a "queen rook" in your image; in reality, it's a "king rook". The solution: you should have turned your board 90 degrees before you set the chess men! This is an extremely common mistake among people; you see it so frequently in Hollywood movies, posters, etc.

Wonderful and artistic image with great composition! I love how they stand out against the black background!

Since I don't know chess... I don't understand a word of what Bram is talking about...LOL

Although I have played chess, I wouldn't be noticing those kinds of technical details. I guess I just like this for the image that it is, even in black and white!

We don’t make art to show someone what something looks like. All this requires is eyes (or a lens). Art is supposed to have meaning, emotion, power, or magic. Alan & Mario "FourThirds"

I love the light quality on this picture. I might have been tempted to move the frame down a little to reduce the amount of black at the top, although I am not sure that would actually have made it better. Did you try that? Nice picture. Faved.
