This is a shot I took near downtown Indy sometime this last fall. It was near sunset and not many people were around.

Nice black and white. It reminds me of an old B&W cop movie or TV show. I like the angle you shot this.

I like that you push with your photos and make stuff you wouldn't normally see on this site. What works in this is the different angles of the posts and traffic lights, and the black and white was a good idea. I wonder if the composition might be stronger with a little less foreground, but what a relief to see something different and interesting. The voters will not approve but please don't let that stop you experimenting more.

Ian, this is great. I agree with Jim Bob and Nigel above, you may not get approval for your style but I've had a bit of that myself and got nicknamed TomyGun for sticking to my guns. You do this well and it suits your subject matter. This is a great Film Noir frame shot to be used as a poster base or PR material. I love the sky line and the white highway lines. Great angles too. Good Work. Tommy

Click here to see WHITBY through the lens of Frank Meadow Sutcliffe! PS I have no commercial link but Sutcliffe's photographs are historical! and any photographer worth his salt should at least know the history of their subject. He is one of the reasons I consider myself lacking, by the way. TG

Perfect title for this sad but elegant image. Nice one.

If I may ... be bold here with a suggestion ...

Might have been tempted to have waited till, or shot one with, the stoplights stuck in the 'red' position. Think that makes sense conceptually to 'complete' the picture.

That said ... yeah, nice shot. Drew me in for a closer look, rest assured and that is a good good thing.

You have me curious about the actual time of day that you shot this one. Clarity and detail is very good, referencing the actual lines you captured of the light standards et al.

The reflections on the road? Suggest some post work to my eyes and that you took this during the day, as in fairly sunny conditions?

Ok, cutting to the chase then ... conversion from colour? Or originally shot in B & W? Forgive me my curiosity here. Trying to understand this one a bit better.

Want to ... want to say that your composition is very good. What with the lines of the road and light standards and their placement within ... just not too sure about the right hand side area though.

In my very humble opinion ... and truthfully ... I am undecided about that facet of your composition as to whether it works or not. Literally, the right thirds.

That said, without the benefit of having been there of course. As I do recall your work from before and composition is usually a strong element with your work. So, perhaps you made the best of the setting.

You most assuredly do convey a mood and feel with your image here. Perhaps, that simply is what is affecting me ... so ... mission accomplished in my books.

Drawing your viewer in and eliciting an emotive reaction?

Nice work. :o)
