This Cornish castle can be traced back to 1379. It is perched 816 feet on a hill... It was probably built has a hunting lodge, or as a chapel to St Michael.....Today the Castle operates as a restaurant...Please enjoy.
Wow Mick i absolutely love this. This is such an imaginative composition but it works perfectly. I love those big boulders in the foreground and the gorgeous pink of the little flowers leading up to the castle. The light and shadows are not as dramatic as some of your usual posts but i adore the soft lighting. You have hit on a beauitful and delicate balance in all aspects of this shot. Excellent work as usual! FAVED!
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the almighty. I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom i trust". Psalm 91: 1 and 2
There is so much I like about this image, Mick. The many colors and textures leading up to the castle... the desire to see the view from the top... and wondering what they are serving for dinner, LOL. A fine job capturing the isolation and beauty of the castle on the hill.
This is a great presentation Mick, I love the way you've used the stones on the right, and the texture that comes from the little patches of lichen on them. The touches of purple are lovely too. I bet this castle has never been made to look so handsome!
beautifully done again Mick! your shots are so beautifully artistic that I think they would make fine paintings. I would love to see a painter replicate some of your work! Again, very nicely done, as always.
I always feel your photos are not shot at random Mick. There is much time and effort made to acquire the perfect lighting, sky and all aspects that work together to make a great photo. Hence the reason you only post when you have nurtured your child. This is a perfect example. Everyone has given the reasons why and I totally agree.
Mick, I have commented over and over about your use of color and light, I must be sounding like a broken record by now. Perhaps I ought to comment on your exceptional composition in this shot and many of your others. You must spend an exceptional amount of time looking for the "ah-ha" moment.
~ Another wonderful image Mick...I always love the way you capture the seemingly magical lighting and colors, not to mention great composition.
Superb work!
:)
Magical image Mick - the contrast of the pink flowers against the rock is simply beautiful and you have composed it perfectly.
Nice work again :)
Just amazing to think it is that old and how wonderful it is being used still.
The CORNISH CASTLE is still a lone sentry standing guard after 600 plus years. I really liked how you made use of odd shaped stones with the colorful wild pink heather amoung them.
Very impressive sight Mick!

this is a really beautiful picture. I faved it, hope you don't mind. I don't think you could have flattered the castle any more than taking the picture at the angle and lighting you did. You couldn't help the lighting, no doubt, but I think it played in your favor. It really is beautiful.
A beautiful study in contrasts - the ancient castle above the new flowers, the solid rocks next to the fragile flowers. The clarity of this photo is so good, too! Wouldn't it be nice if this castle could talk? I'm sure the stories would be captivating!
