The Highland cow is one of the landmarks of Scotland besides the whiskey and kilts ……..They say that Highland Cattle have grazed the rugged Scottish landscape since the sixth century…….. Despite the long horns and unusual appearance of these guys I had no fear of going up close to take this photograph…This photograph was taken on the coast of Cornwall where these cows are an important part of the landscape as they are moved around different sites to graze the slopes of vegetation growing too long which would otherwise smother the more delicate flowering species…..Please enjoy.

I don't think I have ever seen such shaggy cows! They do look a bit scary. You have presented us with a very handsome picture. Great vivid colours, dramatic sky, cattle caught in good poses.

MOOve over I'm coming through. I really like what you do to the sky. It makes this great shot even better. I will show this one to my Father in law. He like different and exotic breeds of cattle. I'm sure he will enjoy these. Nice!!!

Such an intergral part of the Scottish history Mick. They look like a rock band relaxing between gigs. Wonderful contrasts and lighting per usual.

Gorgeous colors! Love the moody sky battling the sunlit grass! These 'lads' definately have personality. They remind me of some of my students with the shaggy hair in their eyes...ha ha ha.

Nice how the sun is shining on the cows in their shaggy winter coats with the darker clouds overhead. I was so impressed with your wave I put up one myself but it is so puny compared to your monster

Wonderful photo Mick!

I love these scruffy little guys, they have always been my favourite breed of cattle. They just scream Scotland at you. They look great against that sky too. x
