Did your family leave Scotland for further afield?....Are you convinced you have a Scottish Heritage….Hopefully, this picture may inspire you to carry out a research into your Scottish family history……..This picture of the Scottish Pipe Band was taken at a place called Ballater in Scotland during a traditional Highland games event….This festival, which takes place every August, offers a wide range of traditional Highland games set in stunning scenery, under the shelter of the Cairngorms Mountains….My favourite tune played by the pipes and drums is called HIGHLAND CATHEDRAL Please enjoy the tune.

Nothing better then the traditions of a nation that are kept alive and respected Mick. You captured the pride of the band with this shot. The colors are really good.
I still remember all the funerals of the fallen at the Twin Towers on 9/11. When they played Amazing Grace on the Bagpipes, I cried every time. Good post.

Mick, I really like the expression you caught on the man in the front as he leads his men on the field. The pride and determination are so obvious and etched across his face. That is one mean looking storm over head too!

I love the contrast between the bright colours of the grass and uniforms and the almost monochrome sky.

Mick ... I can totally relate to this image of the bagpiper's. Even though I'm not of Scottish descent I've learned to love the music / sound coming from bagpipes. I may have mentioned this to you before ... my hometown was founded by Scotsman Samuel McPhail in the mid 1800's & he named it 'Caledonia' after his homeland. The small city celebrates it's Scottish heritage yearly with bagpipes & drums.

The bagpiper's are very colorful in their kilts. The ominous sky & green grass sets them off nicely & I hope the festival didn't get rained on. A superb capture Mick ... thank you for sharing this delightful image & the song too.

Never is there a more impressive sight and sound than a pipe band. I have a deep rooted love of pipes and drums, and this year for my 40th I have tickets to the Edinburgh Tattoo. I watched it every year as long as I can remember and every year I shed a tear and say, next year I will go there. My girls and Al got so used to me saying it that as well as saying it along with me, they sneaked together and bought me tickets for my actual birthday. I am so excited lol.

I love the way that they stand out against that sky! Your skys have been so brooding in the last few posts.Fantastic post Mike!!

Mick sorry me again. That link is so beautiful. It was used once for the massed pipes and drums ( the one where they come out the dark) BUT that being in Dunblane cathedral makes it even more poignant.
