This Log Cabin was built in the mid 1800's by Swedish settlers who had arrived in Indiana and Kentucky. I have Swedish ancestors who settled in these two states . I can't help but wonder, could it be that these early settlers and I are related ?

Yup! We're all related. lol The people who built this surely used the trees that were available and built a really sturdy structure that has fared well through the years. No insulation was needed in log houses and if the cracks are chinked well, it can be toasty warm. Only saying because I live in a much more recently built log house and I hope it lasts as long as this one.
I like the vertical orientation showing off the height, corners and chimney of the house. Good clear image too.

A two story log house seems a little unusual to me for the day, Jen-Nay. I didn't think people from Indiana and Kentucky admitted to being related.
Great angle. Could be you are thinking about the contest. I like it.

Well you just never know Marsha. That is a gorgeous shot of the cabin, and I wouldn't mind living in it right now, but I kinda have my heart set on living in the old house that Dan posted! LOL.

Reminds me of the old Swedish settlement houses in Door County Wisconsin and Washington Island - wonderful angle Marsha and fine outcome on the textures of the old logs. Great entry for the contest.

Wonderfully built cabin, but as Pat wondered, where did that door in the upper level go to? It surely was well constructed. Nice sharp photo.
