This is in Silver Creek Canyon, Utah, just off of I-70. In the surrounding area and in the canyon is a lot of Fremont Indian rock art. They are said to explain their religious beliefs.
Love the shot- great subject.
Excellent work capturing the blue of the sky and maintaining its clarity. However, this leaves the foreground overly dark which detracts from the overall image. If you are interested- there are some neat tutorials on this site on separating out the sky and land features in order to balance this.
It's a nicely composed shot, Larry. Quite a bit of detail is subdued in this which would make it even more striking with greater apparent depth. Illustration sent.
Good evocation of time and place...bits of snow, high clouds and dark shadows in the canyong all say "It is COLD!" I think you have three major subjects here... one is the rock face, another is the lonely tree on the top and the third is the mysterious canyon. More overall light and concentration on one subject might be an interesting thing to try. Did you get any pics of the Indian art you can post?
Love it - It's as if each part of this picture carved out a place to stay where it doesn't belong. The cliff in the sky, the tree on the cliff, the snow on the rocks, etc. I Love it. Framed well too.
All of earth is crammed with heaven And every bush aflame with God But only those who see take off their shoes. - Elizabeth Barrett Browning<p>
