I, too, thought this too dark at first glance, but when enlarged to full screen it is magical and mysterious. I love the sparkling water, the beams of light, and the delicate tracery of the fern.

I too like the dark greens, but the browns really send this photo off to another level. Those tree trunks in the upper center are my favorites. They present a gateway into the mysteries yet be seen in this dark forest.
