"They walked as it were in a black vapour wrought of veritable darkness itself that, as it was breathed, brought blindness not only to the eyes but to the mind, so that even the memory of colours and of forms and of any light faded out of thought. Night always had been, and always would be, and night was all." -J.R.R. Tolkien

This is my entry for the Tolkien-esque competition. It isn't my best manipulation, but it's the best I could do for now as my laptop has been whisked off to the realm of computer repairs.

Cheers!

Yikes! ... I feel as if that spider is about to grab onto me. I love the mysterious feel to the image as well as the light play on the waterfall. Excellent entry & a creative piece of art, Maria ... best wishes in the contest.

This is a clever manipulation and I would have been very disappointed if there hadn't been a Shelob picture in this contest. Outside of Sauron and the Ring, she's the dark heart of the book. She's also a much prettier spider than I normally imagine, but it's a wonderful image. :-)

Hope it does well in the contest!
