Part of the Roman bath complex in Bath, Somerset, England. The baths here were used from about 80-400AD, but were lost as buildings covered them until 1775 when they were discovered by accident, and they have been restored. 1.6 metres deep, the spring water is 120 degrees F. Because the baths are lined with lead the water is now considered unsafe to bathe in. The green colouration is algae which has formed now that there is no roof to protect it. It is thought the alcoves in the walls would have held benches for bathers and small tables for drinks etc.
