:) Well ya gotta start somewhere - my first attempt at HDR. It could well be my last lol. I have looked at it for so long I don't know whether it is good bad or 'orrible. I guess I'm about to find out. I dont mind 'orrible - it was fun to do. . . . .Kodak V550 and Easy HDR Basic (free version) . . . . Thanks for taking a look and any comments will be most welcome.

the only thing I'm not crazy about is the frame, the photo in itself is beautiful, I love it :)

It's worked out very nice for you..lovely deep colours and composition!...not too keen on the frame...the bright blue colour detracts from this great post!

Well done on your first HDR......now...go and do some more!

Deep rich colorings abound on this perfect scape Eve!! The flora in the foreground is breathtaking and sets up the rest of the shot very well giving way to some nice depth!!

I agree with Jess 100%. I would have loved to see it without the frame. Beautiful pic just the same.

Nice work, Lyn! You are brave to start into the HDR territory. I am afraid, though, that I must agree about the frame.

Lyn, about the 'frame' discussion, I like to say this: without frame or not, this is really a beautiful picture with very rich colours. I suppose that you've converted two pictures into one. The flowers 'have made' the 'new' picture. I'll download your image and make a copy of it. From the copy I will crop the frame. The other one remains in its 'original' state. Then I have to compare both images. I will keep the one which is the best to me. Hope that I have your permission in advance to do that. Anyhow, thanks for sharing. Regards, Cornelius

I seem to be out of sync with feelings on HDR - and I can see the advantages - saturated colours/good contrast/clear and sharp - but to me it has an air of artificiality about the completed image. Perhaps its that all the ones I've seen have used the well-saturated 'underexposed side' sky and married in the horizon (which should be paler to our eyes than the foreground). The impression it gives me is flatness - the depth having been taken away from the image.
However! As I said, I seem to be out of sync with general opinion, who seem to like the impact of this technique. Not for me, but hey, that's probably an advantage to you! lol My taste is definitely for the more subtle natural graduation of colour and degree of sharpness.
Please take this is the manner is has been given - a critique of the technique - not the photographer or the photograph! English flowers and rolling countryside is right up my street! I like the photo!

What a coincidence...tonight I'm going to a photography show featuring the work of a man that deals solely in HDR and from the looks of some of the snippets of his work even in the medium of the newspaper, it looks like this could be something I'd really be interested in. I'll create a A LINK TO ONE OF HIS PHOTOS here, noting that his works also show up at http://www.photo.net/photos/Glenn%20Norris. I love your image, and I can't wait to talk to this guy tonight and also look into trying some myself. I guess it's not new as he's been doing it for about three years. He does portraits and also lots of images that are filled with objects. His images come out looking like oil paintings of people's faces. He started with his little girl whose name is Maia and he and his wife run a small coffee shop called "Maia Papaya". Cute, huh? I know this has nothing to do with your upload but I got all excited when I saw this thinking about the exhibition tonight...and you know me when I get excited *flashes of hanging out the window taking shots of the newly fallen snow* sheessh *chuckles* thanks for sharing your work, my friend, and if you're all the way down here, for reading through this missive.

The flowers are splendid and the sky is phenomenal. The HDR really brings that out. I have free software to try this, but I have yet to do so. Little time or interest sometimes to do new things, but it seems to be more in use on our site these days, so you and Jerry and Bob may have motivated a try out from me. I am one of those who ususally don't mind frames. Perhaps it is the blue of this frame that is such a strong color it creates competition with the beautiful, strong blues of the image. In any case, you know that many are wanting to see this without framing. The composition and beauty of the shot are excellent.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . I have mixed feelings here. Bob (Dunstickin) posted one recently "A Scottish Landscape - HDR" and I had some reservation with his as well. I like the landscape portion of both images (His and Yours) but the sky seems out of sorts in the images ... rather "artificial" for want of a better word. Not a very good technical analysis on my part ... just a personal quirk I'm unable to express very well.

The HDR technique really seems to bring out the intensity of the colors. Your photograph is lovely. Perhaps a more neutral color would have suited the frame better. Just a thought.

The composition is great Lyn, but i have to go with John (muggsy) the coloring of the flowers is a bit on the hard side. But it also depends of cource on what kind of monitor you are viewing the image.

Where can you download that program ? would like to have a go at it as well.
