I chose the nicest rose in my garden for you - a yellow rose of friendship. With it comes my gratitude to those who in the past year have given so generously and willingly their time and advice (you know who you are :) ). Thanks also for your encouraging comments and opinions (you know who you are too), and for the daily inspiration gained from the many fine artists of all genres. A year ago I was an almost 'normal' wife/mother/grandmother, very rarely taking a 'snap'. Along the way I have transformed into a slightly dotty old bat with a camera taken everywhere with me, even to work, always looking for a 'capture'. My house is more dusty and my garden less tidy, but I have discovered the roses will still bloom amongst the weeds, and I see beauty which before I would have missed. Thanks everyone. "The world is a rose, smell it and pass it to your friends" ~~ Persian Proverb ~~~

Aww shucks, what a lovely thing to do, Lyn. I'm only one of your many, many friends here on Caedes who has enjoyed the beautiful images you've given us over this past year.

My especial thanks reach across the miles for the wonderful support you gave me when Ed passed away. Your link to the Rainbow Room was a turning point.

Lovely rose, beautifully captured. Thanks a million for the heartfelt sentiments and of course: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!

Yellow roses are my favourite - true! This is a beautiful bloom, beautifully taken!
Interesting you chose a Persian Proverb. One of my favourites, which I found in my dad's wartime diaries, was "Keep in your heart a shrine to the ideal, and on that altar, let the flame never die". He was one of the most unprejudiced men I ever knew, so I hope I follow his lead - most of the time!
Well done and happy anniversary,
Kate

I too, am a "Yellow Rose lover" and this picture went right into my favs. Lyn, you have been an inspiration to me! When I see what you have done with the same camera I own, it has given me hope to someday be able to do images of that quality! You've also gotten me so interested in New Zealand!! Who knows... someday I may come knocking on your door, camera in hand, saying " let's go on a photo shoot!"
Happy Anniversary to you and keep on making the world a more beautiful place with your art.

Nice sentiment, Eve. My garden is looking the same as yours. I didn't even do a very good pruning job this winter, but I'm hoping the roses will be fine. This is a beautiul rose image. The petals at the top are especially detailed, clear and well-lit. -Donna

Straight into favs. Very successful rose picture on all counts.

(There are 9 counts in my own, personal "flowers rules" book. They are: perfect bloom, open to a pleasing stage, good angle, good lighting, good focus, non-distracting background, contrasting background, very close shot -- and, ideally, dew drops on the petals.)

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

What a lovely presentation and a "gift" so touching. But that past year Eve was not a one way street. Speaking not only for myself I'm sure ... You've more than repaid any debt you feel you owe with the consistant quality of your photography, especially your garden flowers ... which I look forward so very often.

What a lovely way to commemorate your first year on Caedes. You're always an inspiration to me, and I'm glad to find someone else who thinks that enjoying life and looking around to find these beautiful images to gather and present is more important than a spotless house, which in my experience, always gets dirty again anyway, and what's more is always there to clean when I get the time. Moments of beauty don't last but when get our cams and grab ahold of that moment they have a chance to live on in time...so, yes, I'm glad you're my friend, and I appreciate all you've done for me as well. Yet another gorgeous rose, but with a special meaning attached.

:)PJ

This is a beautiful capture. Caedes is an amazing idea. Since I do most of my work on the computer, when I get really depressed, I just minimize all my windows and stare at my desktop, something I never thought I would do to relax my mind.
And, I love the Persian Proverb. So deep, so sentimental, so... true. :)
