Lyn, viewing this image without reading the comments, I thought that it could be a stained glass window. Reading the comments afterwards I found out that Mark (Sasraku) already commented that. Makes it simple for me as I only have to agree with Mark's comment. Wonderful image! Regards, Cornelius
Your wonderful framing brings this all together. I think silhouettes are having their day on Caedes. I have a couple and I've seen a few more recently. I really like the style. I like your capture of the birdie on the branch too. He looks like he's singing for you.
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

"The artist is a receptacle for emotions that come from all over the place; from the sky, from the earth, from a scrap of paper, from a passing shape, from a spider’s web." Pablo Picasso
The concept is indeed a good one, what with the colour choices you made overall, et al.
I do have a couple of caveats, if I may be so bold to state them for consideration.
No problem with the framing, but ... but ... I think this might be a case where indeed, 'les's is more. :oP
Just teasing, a little bit. Carrying on ...
The highlighted corners, in my very humble opinion ... take away from the sosphistication and presentation of the concept. Curious if that was an afterthought on your part to 'finish' the piece?
An alternative suggestion would have been to include an inset bevel, and then perhaps a drop shadow of a complimentary colour to the overall composition.
I hope that you will not take offense to my thoughts shared here, and see that to have stimulated my creative thoughts, is indeed a good good thing.
Wondering further if the choice of DOF was you taking some artistic licence to purposely soften the focus of the bird. I might have been tempted to go a bit deeper to sharpen the silhouette. That being simply my own personal preference and tastes.
Alll of that said ... keep at the forefront ... that your image here, drew me in for a closer look and consideration. I do like it, and do hope that you are not dissuaded from more experimentation.
The timing of your shot was spot on ... you could not have scripted a better posturing of your fine feathered friend for your images' concept.
