To Touch A Rainbow

Sometimes we are too busy bemoaning the rain in our lives and as though blindfolded we fail to see the rainbows. We need to reach out to touch them as the rain falls upon us. . . . . This is part of an interactive water sculpture in Hagley Park, Christchurch, NZ. At the touch of a lever the water flows can be controlled. I do not know whether it was by accident or design that this rainbow appeared as the water sprayed over her, but I was as delighted with it as my grandchildren were, and I loved the comment of a 5 year old who said when the water was turned off - "you can't see it any more, but it is still there." . . . Perhaps there are rainbows all around us waiting to be touched :) . .Panasonic DMC-FZ7.. Thank you for taking a look.Any comments are most welcome and always appreciated.

What a special image! The monochromatic sculpture with this burst of natural color is beautiful. A wonderful capture, Eve!

I think this is the serendipity of a brilliant sculptor/engineer and a photographer with a good eye.

There's definitely something about this photo that works on the imagination...I've been listening to a lot of female folk music lately and when I saw this I could only think of the music I've been hearing, hard to explain - but they just go together. Very creative eye, as always!

You certainly touched me with this image and with your narrative, Eve. This is a keeper and what a fantastic idea someone had..the person who put this together. Leave it to a child to come up with the most profound thing to say at exactly the right moment. You've really touched a chord.

The creator of this had excellent vision - he created a master piece. How exciting for you to have this to photograph Lyn! The result is amazing! wonderful shot! ...and we all have to power to reach out, we just need the nerve and the confidence to do so!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

What an amazing concept. The lines of the sculpture convey so much emotion, and to see it in the water with the rainbow fells magical to me. Very artistic photo. :)

An enchanting capture and well stated narrative Lyn. The sculpture is lovely, and you caught her *touching a rainbow*. The rainbow is dazzling against the waters movement. Thanks for this touching moment :)
