In Flanders Fields the poppies grow. . . .I dont have a poppy but I offer this Peace rose in memory of the many thousands of men who died at the Battle of Passchendaele, October 1917. More than 1100 were Kiwis,60% of N.Z.'s total force including more than 800 in a space of two hours on October 12th. Every evening since 1928 the Last Post has been sounded beneath Menin Gate Memorial.

Great photo for excellent sentiment. The narrative is as beautiful as the rose, which is superb. Nice post.

I understand why the black frame after reading your description. Beautiful rose very well presented. Lovely soft colours and the "tears" a fitting tribute to the soldiers who gave their lives for the motherland.

Simple 'n' sweet!! Simply sweet...yeah, that's it!! The vignette is a wee tight, but you knew you'd get that from me though. Luv that framing and creamy colorings to the piece!!

What a beautiful tribute to those brave souls who suffered such a horrifying event. When will humans tire of war? In my favorites for its beauty and meaning.

A most wonderful tribute and a very lovely, well presented post.
That's a lot of men who died because of the evil that other men do. Wouldn't the world be wonderful if we could just stop being so damned selfish and let other people live their lives in peace? You've got me thinking again. Sorry.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes
