Excellent and your time was well spent. The lavender is marvelous. I like the explanation. Gives someone who doesn't have a clue (like me) just how much goes into perfection. A 10.

You have gone beyond the call of 'stuff' ... and duty here, Lyn.
The information you provided is simply ... invaluable, to those that watch your work.
Thank you. :o)
Now then ... your image here ...
I do like your framing and presentation. Very much so. Your creative efforts paid off. :o)
The play with the DOF is probably the standout element for me. Heightened by your border/framing treatment.
Add in the glorious colour contrasts ... good detail and clarity ... well done.
Not sure if you used PSP or PS ... as a suggestion, delve into using channels to make selections/masks. Magnetic lasso for example, can work well if there is good separation and can aid in paring down on time cutting masks.
As well, going into Select >> Modify ... there you can make some adjustments to the borders; contract/expand and so on.
Oh right ... almost ... almost forgot one last thing ...

"I never looked for it, gave it no name; yet I knew it always, when the gift of peace came. I stood quite still for the moment that it lasted...Then the light shifted slightly and the moment passed, leaving me...with the lasting echo of its presence.." Diana Gabaldon
Now that's a recipe for success because this is absolutely beautiful! I understood some of it, but when I got to Les' suggestions, I think I got lost! lol
You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being.

I've always been a fan of items sticking out of the frame .. that and the fine white line around the main image are very noticeable and make for a very popping image
