A tribute to a great New Zealander who said his achievements were those of an “ordinary man” with an ambition to take part in adventure. Admired and loved by millions, a hero :) This sculpture of Sir Edmund Hillary at Aoraki/Mt Cook Village, NZ, recognises the 50th anniversary of the ascent of Everest and the influence of the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park on his early climbing experience . . . I have spent some hours on this image taken with my first digital camera Kodak LS420 in 2004. My husband standing beside him I have removed, and as the colour was not good I desaturated it and added a pale yellow gradient filter to give a touch of warmth. I wish I could have done better.

A great tribute to such a historical figure. I have been watching the documentary showing various stages in his life. He was proved that the saying "where there is a will, there is a way" is really true.

You did a lot of fine work on this I am sure, Eve. The result is so good. The contrasts and the lighting are really so good. He almost looks like a real man and not a statue. Did you know that Hillary Clinton claims to have been named after him? Where is this image taken? Is that Mt. Everest in the background? You did a wonderful job.
