"The Clipper (Parthenos sylvia) is a species of nymphalid butterfly found in South and South-East Asia, mostly in forested areas. It is a fast flying butterfly with a habit of flying with its wings flapped stiffly between the horizontal position and a few degrees below the horizontal. It may glide between spurts of flapping". . . .I can vouch for it being a fast flying creature - all their flapping about put me in quite a flap at the Tropical Forest but this one obliged :) . . Panasonic DMC-FZ7. Thanks for looking, comments always appreciated.

I know how hard it is to catch a good shot - their wings move so fast! And you have to do a bit of chasing, too. Again, such lovely color and clarity on this!

Another beauty of a butterfly and beauty of a shot! Amazing clarity on this fellow sitting on a cactus. He flew in from East Asia. I guess they do travel quite far. With wings you can go anywhere! lol

Excellent color and focus where it counts. The body of this butterfly reminds me of the colors on a tiger. Beautiful.

Great capture Lyn. My grandson and I were trying to get some dragonfly and butterfly photos today and we were having a heck of a time. The sure like to jump around. Now I know why they call people "Social Butterflies." Great colors and a great post.
