You may think you have seen this before - yes it is almost the same as #2, taken seconds before. I had not noticed there are more gulls in this one. I have tried sharpening and increasing the contrast but think it looks better like this as it shows how misty it was. There were one or two people venturing out of their cars and taking cellphone shots. I was the only daft person with camera equipment and a very cold head as I used my hat to protect my precious camera lol. Between 2.31 pm and 2.54pm I took 249 shots with the two cameras :) There may have been more but I had to leave when the area was closed off to the public as a safety measure, which just may have saved me from hypothermia :) I promise I won't post them all!!

Three things impress me : 1. your photo of the furious sea 2.That you braved that storm so long to get your photos - what is caedes doing to you? :) 3. That you took 249 photos in 23 minutes! - The best paparazzi couldn't top that figure.

P.S. I saw on TV yesterday a video showing how the passengers on board a cruise liner suffered during this storm. The ship called at Auckland to discharge the injured passengers.

Scenes such as this are catching and everchanging..You prbably could have shot a few hundred more and still not got it all. This post however comes as close as it comes to capturing the "Fury of the sea". I have thoroughly enjoyed and admired this series Lyn. Thanks for kindly sharing.

I agree about the birds adding much to this shot. I almost feel like I'm being tossed about by the waves. What a feeling of power they emit. Great series you have going Lyn. Hope you get over your cold. That's the one you will be getting. lol

Half an hour in a storm? 249 shots in half an hour in a storm? 249 shots in a storm in the freezing cold? 249 shots in half an hour in the freezing cold that are as brilliant as this one? Must be a Scouser!!

Wow, beautiful shot. I think sometimes B&W is a fantastic choice for the ocean, as this shot proves.

They are all wonderful shots of this broiling sea. A shot like this could never be recaptured quite this way. You sure are a camera nut! lol To brave the elements for 249 shots! (I'd have done the same). :) lol

Another great shot in this series, this one makes me think of something out of the 50's. One question, is that black mass to the left of the big wave a whale's tail? Great stuff LE.
