Mr & Mrs Mallard taking a rest - the only movement they made as I approached them was to open their beady eyes :) . . Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos) in New Zealand were derived from both European and American stock, they interbreed with Grey ducks, Anas superciliosa, and hybrids are common.Mallards have now become the most numerous of all water birds here. They are legally harvested in May during the duck shooting season, with the take controlled by daily bag limits for licensed hunters. . . Taken with Canon EOS 450D. Thank you for viewing. Commnts always welcome and appreciated.

A good capture of the cute pair of resting mallards, Lyn. Whenever i try to sleep in that position I seem to wake with a stiff neck. Nice work, Saved to my duck collection.

Beautiful, Eve. I like the way you have isolated them too with the softened edges. Interesting information on the origin and hunting too.

A blind duck hiding from a duck blind Lyn. Great shot with added treatment looks really good. I hear duck hunters are crazy. They build camouflaged settings on boats that look like floating bushes to hide from the ducks. They call them blinds.
