The beach at Pounawea, near Owaka on the Catlins Coast, NZ. The township is at the junction of the Catlins and Owaka Rivers and Pounawea means "The meeting place of the waters" Taken with Canon 450D. I like the way the stillness of this scene contrasts with the waves crashing in the misty distance. I hope you enjoy it. Your comments most welcome.

Knowing that Bob has the capabilty to to an outdoor nap even on a (too) small bench, his comment hasn't amazed me at all, lol!
Like the contrast of the 'mirror' with the breakers in the distance. Very fine post again Lyn.

Another beautiful seascape. Those two objects add an element of enigma too.

I too like the peacefulness of this one LE. I like the panoramic style as well. You Canon did good.

The simplicity here is just so filled with beauty. I especially love how the birds are not only at the front, but also on the little shrub. That's just gorgeous. And the breakers being captured at the horizon line is awesome. The horizontal layers of sand and water are gorgeous. I can see you really put this photo together with careful thought. Very lovely. Wonderful panorama like shot. I like everything in this. Those layers of water and land is one of my dreams to shot. You did it perfectly Lyn.

Someone has already nominated this great picture to the permanent archive and due to some glaring mistake, I was asked to vote on it through the Art Council. Obviously I voted Yes - this is a classic lesson in how to shoot a landscape. The 2:1 crop was a perfect choice and gives an epic quality to the layered landscape. Truly outstanding.
