The lighthouse I posted yesterday was built following New Zealand's worst civilian shipwreck here at Waipapa Point, in 1881. Click Here to view the information board I was resting my camera on when I took this photo which will tell you a few details of the wrecking of the SS Tararua . A beautiful spot with a tragic past. . . . . Taken with Canon 450D on a bitterly cold day with gale force winds. Thanks for viewing. Any comments/opinions most welcome and appreciated.

It looks like a painting Lyn. A dramatic sky, a blue green sea with breakers, and a beach with sand dunes are the perfect ingedrients to make this composition to a a wonderful photograph. Well done.
Regards, Cornelius.

Wonderful scene! Good composition and lighting, Lyn. This roaring sea must be very dangerous to seamen.

Another beautiful shot to keep. Sometimes it takes a stormy day to see a fantastic scene like this, and, of course, the talent behind the camera. Thanks for braving the wind and giving us this.

I can see that it was very windy from the white caps and the grass, Lyn. But it did not prevent you from getting this beautiful image on camera. A fantastic sky here too!

Lyn - I saw this in VB and was impressed by the composition and drama of the scene. Reading the description of the conditions in which you took the photo certainly explains the windswept sand, choppy water and cloud formations. Kudos! Thad

My goodness me this has to be one of my very fave pictures of all time on here and the net!! Its very odd really because when I opened this, I instantly thought of the deliberate wecking of a ship featured in the early chapters of " Jamaica Inn" by Daphne Du MAurier, which my daughter is just discovering. The view itself is just so wonderful, although you can really see how treacherous the coast line is. A wonderful wonderful upload Lyn xxx

A dynamic portrait of the power of nature and the elements. A keeper for me! Wow, thirty comments before mine... remember those days, Lyn? Now, we are lucky to get a small fraction of that. Caedes is pooping out, its day numbered, I am afraid to say.

Happy Trails
