Aotearoa is the Maori name for New Zealand, and is said to mean "Land Of The Long White Cloud". This long white cloud is hovering over the Southern Alps and I liked the layer effect it helped to create.Canon 450D, 17-85mm lens. Thank you for viewing. As always comments are most appreciated and valued :)

Lyn - The horizontal layers of this photo are outstanding - from water, to hills, mountains, clouds, then sky. While usually I am not a fan of the black borders, it works wonderfully for this photo, adding two more horizontal lines and emphasizing the panoramic effect of the photo. It's a beauty! Thad

You don't see this kind of cloud where the Maoris came from. This is a speciality of Aotearoa! Beautiful!

I would say your country is aptly named LE. Your presentation represents it very well.

It surprises me that I hadn't seen this one before, since I'm rather familiar with your gallery. Since my trip to Glacier National Park (and the fact that here in North Dakota we've finished our mountain removal project) I'm more in love with mountains than ever. The range in this one looks like the teeth of a gigantic saw blade, the miniature grooves in the steel represented by the snowy ravines in the photo. Plus I'm counting 9 layers from the water at the bottom to the light clouds at the top, all with the character of a painting. Outstanding image! I'm guessing you've already corrected the problem but, just in case you haven't, when this photo was taken I think there was a spot on either the lens (easy to clean) or on the mirror (not so easy) on the far left. I can see a round, slightly darker spot just above the white clouds. I get these in my photos from time to time so I watch for them and erase them in Photoshop. -Nik
