Canada Geese, early evening, on Lake Tekapo, South Island, New Zealand. They were introduced to NZ from the USA as a gift from President Theodore Roosevelt.
Unfortunately they are unpopular with farmers as they graze on their best pastures. They are very popular with hunters though.
Thank you for your views and comments/opinions - always appreciated.

Ok...you are so lucky that you guys can kill them over there! Hunters aren't allowed really to kill them here. I think that they can kill the males, but not the females. The only problem with that is they look so much a like!

But these geese really do make the photo stand out. A fantastic shot.

The first time I saw this one I thought they looked like Canadians but wondered how they could have gotten to New Zealand from here without some help. These geese are a big-time game bird here, thousands ending up on the dining table every year, and, each year here, it is common to see a high-flying flock so large and dense with birds it looks like a thin storm cloud, containing anywhere from several hundred to several thousand geese. I like all the horizontal elements in this shot, Lyn; the water, landform and sky, the position of the reeds, ripples in the water, the arrangement of the birds, and even their body shapes are horizontal. Plus, it's a pano. it all fits. And it all works.

Well, that tells you a lot about US diplomacy! lol Not willing to leave well enough alone! I did get a chuckle out of it though.
Just a really well composed image, Lyn, from the weeds down front all the way to the distant mountains. This is such a perfect shot.

Very nice shot! I agree with Nik about them ending up on many folks dinner table. In China Town...New York they have them hanging whole for customers to choose from.

This is a beautiful image but the shoreline in the background is almost too straight to be a natural part of the image. If the mountains were "dropped in" as they appear to be then this should be posted as a "Manipulation" abeit, a well constructed one. ??????

Thanks to Teddy Roosevelt we have Parks in the US that are a refuge for all kinds of wildlife. He had a lot of vision. What an idyllic scene.

Teddy Roosevelt was quite free with others property, considering they were Canada geese. I suppose it was because they white-washed their way to the South, every Winter, by the millions.
A beautiful scene, Eve. It would be a better balance with that one goose cloned out, that's against the right border. Moving images are always a distraction when at,or breaking a border.

I think this is a lovely image mainly for the water color and the mtn. backdrop. The geese are a bit dark and has a loss of detail, sorry Lyn, just my humble thought. Tigs♥ =^..^=

In reply to Pat's query - this is not a manipulation - the mountains are real. :) I would not know how to add the mountains!

A wonderful shot, LynEve! I have to say I'm surprised to see these geese in New Zealand, and I've certainly never seen them in such an awe-inspiring setting. I hope this bunch appreciates the view. :) I love the wide aspect and the weeds in the foreground. I like this one!

Lyn - The Canadian Geese are prolific, pretty pests that make a terrific photo. How nice that a US president gave Canadian birds as a gift to NZ - such is diplomacy! lol Their liberal amounts of deposits in water and on land can be a nuisance. That said, they add much to this already beautiful scene. Excellent post-photo work as well. Thad
