This pine tree on our son's property needed to be felled to avoid what happened to THIS tree close by. The pine cone and needles and the feather seemed to signify what was lost. I did not place them there. It was quite healthy, but in danger of being blown down.Taken with Canon 450D. Thanks for viewing. Comments most welcome and appreciated.

You picture is so clear that we can all count the rings and estimate the age of that tree.

I am still counting rings LE but it looks like it had a few years of good growth. Interesting post. It would make a nice texture for a background.

Such a fine photo Lyn. Look at all those rings of life, if only they could speak to tell us what the tree had seen and felt.

I think I counted around 33 rings. Poor thing, cut down in it's prime. Hopefully, someone can use the wood from the trunk. Thought provoking image, Lyn.

I didn't count the rings but it seems to have stood for quite a number of years. Nice interesting close-up Lyn.

My husband is a logger & is around trees / wood all the time to make a living. He'd definitely appreciate this image with the message that goes along with it. I do too. Nice detail throughout ... very well done Lyn.

Its so sad when you have to fell a tree. I just had to fell a huge one by my house, but I have kept large pieces of the trunk to make some garden furniture out of.
