For Friday - Agapanthus, from the Greek agapé (love) and anthos (flower)
Also known as Lily of the Nile.
This is a miniature variety in my garden named Stormcloud - it growns to about 100cm.
The full sized ones (height about 1 metre, or 3 ft) are considered invasive in New Zealand and classed as noxious weeds in some areas. They grow en masse on roadsides - I think they look lovely :)
Canon 450D. Thanks for viewing. Comments welcome :)

Good morning, LE...

When I lived closer to the coast, I had thirty of 40 Agapanthus in my lovely, well landscaped yard. Now That I'm on 5+ acres of oaks, almost nothing will grow; so I miss my gardening and my Agapanthus.

Well cropped and composed Foofy shot. One of my favorite plants and a beautifully colored flower. Nice detail work capturing the little bee gathering nectar and an excellent blurred background.

This is a wonderful F˛ image, captured very well, Lyn.

I'm sorry to say however that I hate the agapanthus. Please let me make clear why:
My wife has a very large (in diameter) agapanthus in her garden. Because we have often freezing weather during the wintertime, and because an agapanthus is not hardy, it stands in a kind of large scale wooden crate. Before winter arrives, the agapanthus has to moved to the shed in order to survive. A job which has to be done by me, with the result that I can't move up when the job is done because of pain in my back. Thanks to the wonderful agapanthus, the flower of love. Next time I will hire a crane, lol.

Regards, Cornelius.

I cannot believe, by looking at your photo, that these beautiful flowers are considered weeds! I also liked, by the way, the little visitor who must also believe the flowers to be special.
