Lyttelton Container Wharfe, Banks Peninsula, Canterbury, New Zealand. A bin rescue from a while ago, taken with Panasonic FZ7.
The town of Lyttleton was at the epicentre of the February 2011 earthquake and suffered extensive damage. The container wharfe area needed 14 hectares of repair which is still ongoing. Millions of tonnes of rubble have had to be removed from the area. It is the South Island's major port.

This would make an excellent entry in the new contest Lyn - nice colors and lines in it.

No question that you have a eye for a good shot, Lyn. Love the angle and the colors on this one. Lot of work to be done to get it to look like this again, I expect.

I like how the natural world here is soft and subdued in it's coloring, while the man-made world pops with vibrant and various colors. It's usually the other way around. This would make a good "industry" entry in the current contest.

A nice, and somewhat nostalgic (lol) image to me, of course because of the maritime aspects, Lyn. Thanks for a very interesting narrative as well. An earthquake is really a disaster. I'm happy and lucky that I was never confronted with it.

Regards, Cornelius.

It's good to see container ports, we have few photos like this on Caedes, come back again to this port in a year, or two, and it will still be a bustling port. (o: This will make a good entry into the competition!
