Parent and child Highland cattle in the warmth of the late afternoon winter sun. There were two adults and two calves and the parents were very protective of the youngsters, otherwise I may have climbed the fence to get the sun in a better position to snap them.
Highland Cattle were first imported into New Zealand in the 1970's from Scotland and Canada and the New Zealand Highland Cattle Society was formed in 1993. Here the creamy red colouring is more predominant than the brown or black. Canon 450D. Thanks for viewing and for any comments.
*The calves were for sale - my garden is not large enough though :)
You could buy one and invite it to a barbeque. :)
