Waipapa Point Lighthouse,Southland,one of the last 2 wooden lighthouses built in New Zealand(in 1884) It became automated in 1976, and since 1988 has been solar powered.
It was built following the wreck of the passenger steamer Tararua off Waipapa Point on April 29, 1881 when 131 lives were lost.
Taken with Canon 450D. Light added in PSP.
