I just had to stop and get a photo of these ducks waiting beside the sign in a quiet South Island, NZ town. :)
The NZ Fire Service has less than 2000 career firefighters who work mainly in the cities.
The rest (approx 8000) are Volunteers and receive no payment for their great work. They undergo a short recruit course, and can join at age 16. (not sure if these ducks are old enough!)
Paid career NZFS firefighters also make up the majority USAR (Urban Search & Rescue) team members.
Brave men and women.
Thanks for viewing and for any comments :) Not very artistic but I thought it was rather funny.
