The Small White is a small- to medium-sized butterfly species of the Yellows-and-Whites family Pieridae. It is also known as the Small Cabbage White and in New Zealand, simply as White Butterfly.
This is a male as it has only one black wing spot.
White butterflies are unusual in that they don't mind overcast days and light rain. They are considered a pest, especially by market gardeners because of their liking for Cabbage, Broccoli, Cauliflower, etc.
This is a RAW photo taken in b/w with Canon 450D some time ago.
Comments very welcome.

Lyn, we have them here too, they are very active and can be hard to shoot. I think this is very well done, I like it in B&W, and I like that we can see it's body through it's wing. This is a splendid B&W. Tigs♥ =^..^=

I have heard people call them Cabbage Butterflies, LE. The mono gives is a classy look.
Makes me think of Katherine Hepburn for some reason. Maybe it is because of the way she floated around in the movie "The Philadelphia Story."
Well done.

A nice b&w Lyn. Its wings are so delicate that they barely hide its body. They tend to flutter around a lot so that they hard to get a picture of here. I see many of the monarch imitators around though.
