The North Otago Highland Pipe Band leading a street parade last Saturday. The penny farthing riders are right up there with them :)
The Pipe Band was established in Oamaru in 1901.

Although the band-players are looking very seriously, this image breathes out a joyful atmosphere. Wish I could hear the music and felt the sunrays on my skin, instead of shivering from the cold here.

Excellent parade shot Lyn so colourful and full of joy. Did you know that "penny farthings" were only named that in the 1920's long after they had disappeared from the scene? In Victorian times they were called "Ordinaries"
