The sun came out today, very welcome after our battering by Cyclone Ita. Late afternoon the Parekareka and gulls were gathered on the wharf. Spotted Shags or Parekareka (Phalacrocorax punctatus) are a species of Cormorant found only in New Zealand.
Taken with Canon 450D. Thank you for looking and for any comments :)

That is a big crowd of cormorants and they seem to get on well with the gulls. Good capture - A nice sky too.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

A very cool shot Lyn. I think they’re deciding who’s car to soil - I just hope it wasn’t yours. Honestly though, that’s a lot of birds in one spot, and definitely conjures thoughts of Hitchcock’s movie. My guess is they all heard New Zealand was paradise too.

That is a big gathering of birds, Lyn. Reminds me of the old classic Hitchcock movie. Hope these are friendlier birds. Nice view of them and the wharf.
