A manipulation of a photo taken on the same day as This one, from a slightly different angle.
I am wondering if a possible contender for the current 'Impressionism' contest.
If this was the view of the captain or crew member(s) on the bridge of his/their ship, it was a spectacular one, but time for an emergency call (SOS) for assistance from a SAR (Search And Rescue) team as well, ☺ . Great manip, Lyn! Would be a perfect entry for the current contest!

Having spent years following a degree in fine art I can tell you, definitely, yes. Classical Impressionism involved more a time rather than an individual style. In these two samples, both from the brush of Claude Monet, #1 is soft and ethereal as your submission is, whereas #2 is bolder and more defined as Casechaser's submission. Impressionism originated in the 19th century with a group of Paris artists who independentally exhibited during the latter1800s. Their movement was named after a hostile French critic claimed the group were painting nothing but impressions. They apparently liked it and the name and style(s) stuck. As is the case with most of these contests, the name really doesn't matter; judges vote on what they like, oblivious of the title. So yes, Lyn, your submission fits well within the bounds of classic impressionism.
