We took a country detour coming home from the seashore on Sunday and spotted this little herd of deer on the way. They were very timid and ran away, keeping their distance from the strange woman with a clicking black box, but still close enough to get a few shots of them.

One of them is keeping an eye on you! Lovely shot...with a lush greenness that is absent in our part of the world right now.

In this one photo we see the sort of country New Zealand truly is, full of variety, if only in the matter of trees; Pines on the horizon, deciduous on the rolling hills, and palms along the fence line. And the deer are a bonus.
